Jesus I took a DNA test and god is my father T-shirt

A true Southerner, my grandmother Grace Sweet is a proud Jacksonian, and she has seen time and time again how the Jesus I took a DNA test and god is my father T-shirt and by the same token and city’s history repeats itself. Her journey to Jackson began at just three weeks old; When her mother died shortly after giving birth to her, Sweet’s family sent her to live with her aunt and maternal uncle in the capital city. Now, 90 years later, the maternal mortality rate for Black women in the United States is still very low and is plagued by other public health problems, such as a lack of clean water. My grandmother grew up on Church Street, which is called the Sugar Hill of Jackson. Named after Sugar Hill, New York, that’s where Black professionals lived in their 30s and 40s. She graduated from the historic local Black College and went on to teach at a nearby high school. . This is what Jackson represents for her—a close-knit community, culture, and deep roots of our ancestors. But it also taught her to overcome adversity. In 1979, my grandmother was a 47-year-old teacher when heavy rain caused the Pearl River to overflow, ravaging the city and forcing Mississippians to row boats in floodwaters. Fast forward to this year, the same river flooded and resulted in overloaded and damaged water systems. If you want more details, please see here
