That’s because a lot of politicians, such as governors, have refused to give money. I think that sucks, and it’s been in the making for decades. Currently, the drainage lines here, many sections have been damaged. It smells so bad that if you’re driving you can smell it [in certain areas]. We don’t have [reliable] public transport. People are trying to help by bringing water, bringing food and everything… It’s hard, even for old people like me. I can’t carry those jars anymore without getting tired feet. They were bringing us water, but we still had to pick it up and take it away.

Then you have people in Jackson trying to help each other, especially the elders. They are really making sure they have water and transportation. Money was taken from this state by politicians. We have money to work on this infrastructure, but nothing gets done. It was just forgotten. When I was in high school, we had some of the same problems; I was 16 then, and now I’m 90.
